Imogen Heath

Throughout Dirt: An apparatus, filmmaker Imogen Heath approach the role of ethnographer playfully using both digital and analogue technologies to critique the practice of documentation and classification, in terms of politics of excess, trash and dreck. A landscape of sound will elaborate ideas about dirt, excess, and waste in politics, practice and aesthetic, collected from interviews with organizers & artists. Digital images of artists working will pursue details, illegible from the whole. Staged large-format photographs on analogue film, of the artists with their work in a performed & representative state of completion, after 19th & 20th Century anthropological photographic portraits, in their gestural excess, shall be subjected to a heightened process of decay, literally buried in trash.
